I was using another startup manager and for the heck of it I uploaded it to virus total and after the scan realized that my old one was not safe. So I looked at the appstore and I found this one wich works great and I uploaded it to virus total and it appears to be safe. This is amazing considering the application if free and considering that I paid money for the one I was using. Thank you
I've long suspected a pile up of old garbage on my system, since I can actively seem some old remnants of programs long uninstalled in my Activity Monitor. Doesn't matter how much I move to new machines, MIgration Assistant takes ALL the garbage with it. Massive ugh! Startup Manager does exactly as the name says, it helps you manage all of thees hidden startup programs. It found kernel extensions dating back to 2014, back from when I did my last 100% clean hand migration. The problem is that Apple's Migration Assistant keeps moving old garbage to new machines, over and over and over. I found it nigh impossible to simply use that to make an old account work well with my m1 mac, for instance. Too many old traces of crap were actually running under Rosetta, sending the whole system into critial memory. Major yikes! This things handles it. 9 unwanted kernel extensions, 8 old browser extensions, 21 launch items, it seemingly found them all. The only downside is that the delete icon besides a lot of the old garbage is greyed out, so you need to use finder to manually delete the things. Other than that, this is easily a 5 star app. I'm guessing the dev should re-upload or rename it or something it to remove old bad reviews, since they truly don't apply anymore. This is one of those apps that helps you get rid of old code parasites and restores your santiy. This should be a 4 to 5 star app, and have crazy levels of popularity. Simple as that
Either an update was applied since the bad reviews, or the OS works better with it now, but I had zero issues with using this handy FREE app. I highly recommend it to get those items you forgot you installed out of your system’s memory, and speed up your Mac!
I've used systweak apps before with good result. So, in spite of 2 reviews saying that it "locks up". I downloaded and installed it on my mojave machine and scanned. Happy surprise! it works! NO HANG!!! Haven't fullly explored the functions yet -- but it certainly deserves better than a score of 1.8!!
The v1.1 update didn’t change a thing: the app still crashes during the initial scan so it’s essentially useless… I tried on different computers and it wasn’t any better on any other computer. It’s sad since the original idea was interesting (if anything, it’s always useful to review what loads when on your Mac), but the app simply doesn’t work at all.
Starts up, opens a finder screen and promply locks up. Does nothing. Not worth your time to install and then remove. Just more junk.
